The MacGuffin

This Japanese (overdubbed) film is about a girl, Ruka, whose father was killed in the first scene and makes her want to go into crime fighting. The first few scenes are filled with BUCKETS of blood spraying all over the place, chainsaws, razor blades, and bullets. Ruka is so bad-ass, she doesn’t even get blood on her uniform while standing in the middle of gallons of blood being sprayed into the air.

Without a Paddle – Four friends grew up together and have pretty different personalities. Once, they’re older they’ve gone their separate ways. One of them dies and they all come back to Oregon for the funeral. They go find their old tree house and there’s a box with what amounts to a treasure map inside that Billy left them shortly before he died. So they owe it to Billy to follow the map and find the treasure.

Spencer is joined by guest host Lacey Leavitt.  They discuss Lacey’s career in film, she shares some of her favorite guilty pleasure films, they talk about what they’ve been watching lately, and give their DVD picks of the week.

Zombie Girl The Movie: Entertaining documentary about a 12-year-old girl who sets out to make a feature length zombie movie. 8/10
