Paranormal Activity 2: Features some big scares, but a larger cast and more plot doesn’t equal a better movie than the original. 7/10

My Soul to Take: Hard to believe it was Wes Craven who wrote this atrocious script with terrible dialog and an incoherent plot. 2/10

Hatchet: This self proclaimed “throwback to 80s horror” features too many lame jokes and not enough interesting characters. 5/10

Let Me In: Unnecessary remake takes a lot of the subtlety out of the original with things like overbearing music and bad CGI. 6/10

Devil: Could have been a claustrophobic mystery, but instead focuses on everyone except those stuck in an elevator with the devil. 4/10

Machete: Improves upon the film that inspired it (Grindhouse) with a crazy cast and plenty of over the top action. 8/10

Last Exorcism: A solid script and impressive acting highlight this chiller. Only downside is the abrupt (though still good) ending. 8/10

Piranha (2010): Aims to be a fun ride full of bloody gore and tanned skin, and that’s exactly what it achieves. Great cast too. 7/10

Burning Bright: A killer tiger in a house during a hurricane is maybe the craziest plot ever. Surprisingly it makes a good movie. 7/10

Forbidden World (1982): This fast-paced Alien rip-off is entertaining, but is brought down by some terrible editing and creature FX. 5/10
