The MacGuffin

Link (1986): An orangutan butler goes apeshit (ha ha ha) and stalks a young Elizabeth Shue. The best of the killer monkey subgenre. 6/10

Monkey Shines (1988): A great story of a struggling quadriplegic mixed with the mediocre story of his angry telepathic helper monkey. 5/10

Shakma: A raging baboon attacks people playing a fantasy RPG in a medical school. A decent movie with great monkey attack scenes. 5/10

Not Quite Hollywood: Very entertaining documentary about Australian exploitation films in the 70s and 80s. You’ll want to see them all. 8/10

Gremlins 2: One of the rare sequels that is not only a great movie, but is completely different in tone from the first. Where’s part 3? 9/10

Gremlins: The best Christmas horror movie around. A great satire and creature feature full of great gags and memorable monsters. 9/10

Black Christmas (2006): Takes a suspenseful movie with interesting characters and remakes it with gratuitous gore and dumb co-eds. 2/10

Black Christmas (1974): Influenced every slasher that came after. Superb direction and performances keep this near the top of the pack. 9/10

Magic (1978): The classiest killer doll movie around. Starring Anthony Hopkins & Burgess Meredith and directed by Richard Attenborough. 8/10

Piranha II: The military creates flying piranha. Needless to say they escape and attack beachgoers. Directed by James Cameron! 1/10
