Interview – Rodriguez/Malik Bendjelloul – Searching for Sugar Man

Spencer interviews director Malik Bendjelloul and subject Rodriguez from the documentary Searching for Sugar Man.

Spencer was born and raised in New Mexico. He grew up with the many great films of the 1980’s before having his world rocked after seeing The Usual Suspects. He moved to Washington State to go to the University of Washington, and currently any free time he currently has is split between working on film projects and watching films.

    Rodriguez seems like such a down to earth guy from this interview. I got to see Searching for Sugarman the other day, it was really mesmerizing and the soundtrack was great too. I highly recommend checking it out.

    Yeah, you are definitely right. He was incredibly friend and very curious. He wanted to know all about our camera equipment. An incredibly genuine guy. It is a great film, even for people who aren’t familiar with his work beforehand.
